Biography

Kit's photography is about identity. Whether this be by photographing people within their own environment or photographing what drives and defines their identity, such as landmarks. Pursuing this agenda has led Kit to photograph extensively across the globe, most recently focusing on Russia and Eastern Europe.

Much of his work is driven by the desire to challenge the stereotype, whether that be Western attitudes towards everyday life in modern Russia or how we see recognisable structures around us such as Brighton Pier. Challenging the stereotype is perhaps a legacy from having spent a dozen years working in the advertising industry.

Exhibitions include Eastern Soul: A Photographic Odyssey Throguh Russia & The Balkans at Pushkin House, London and Between Myth & Transformation: Images of Transylvania & Ireland at The Palace of Culture, Targu Mures, Romania. His work has been published in the national and international press and bought for numerous private collections. His work is held in the permanent collection at at Pushkin House, Bloomsbury, London.

Inspired by the great street photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Gary Winogrand, he trained at the London College of Printing and with Nick Berkeley (Paradise Row).

He lives in Brighton with his wife and two daughters, where he is attached to the Fiveways Artist Group.
